Description: MAKEOUT is a Belarusian feminist anti-discriminatory project about gender and sexuality that seeks to heighten the awareness, promote mindfulness, and strengthen the LGBTQ-community and other vulnerable groups, which face sexual and gender identity discrimination.
Aims and objectives: We create online and offline safer spaces for LGBTQ-people in Belarus. Additionally, the project aims to empower Belarusian LGBTQ-individuals in Minsk and regions and shape a community of reflective assertive proactive LGBTQ-people.
Main activities:
- Various educational and cultural events (i.e. workshops, lectures, roundtables, screenings and discussions), raising issues of gender, sexuality, identity, antidiscrimination, feminism, etc.
- Online magazine – original articles and translations.
- Media campaigns.
- Special project “Coming out”, documenting personal experiences of self-identification.
- Special project “Retro” and Queer Archive, archiving LGBTQ-history in Belarus.
- meta – queer festival.
- PSY-project.
- MAKEOUT cinema club.
