The Information Centre „GENDERDOC-M” was established on 8 May 1998 and is one of the oldest NGO actively promoting LGBT (lesbians, gay, bisexual and transgender people) community rights in Moldova. All along this period, GENDERDOC-M has carried out more than fifty projects at different levels. They were directed to achieve the Centre’s strategic goals during its development. In order to reach the goals, the Centre has informed society about sexual orientation and gender identity, by lobbying LGBT interests and rights within the state institutions and international organisations, by preventing HIV/AIDS and STD (sexually transmitted diseases), by promoting healthy life style, by organising social and cultural events, by offering psychological and legal assistance (to transgender people, seropositive gay people, older gay people, relatives of people from LGBT community), activities with professionals groups (psychologist, sociologists, journalists, policemen, doctors), etc.

GENDERDOC-M Centre is a member of the Council of Non-discrimination Coalition of the National HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis Coordination Council, of the National Youth Council of Moldova, of ILGA-Europe Association (European Unit of the International Lesbians, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association), of IGLYO (International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Youth and Student Organisation).

Aims and objectives: 

Mission of organization: Creation of a favourable legislative, legal and social environment within society for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people by means of developing the LGBT community, awareness raising, advocating for rights, providing services and building organisation’s capacity.
